Representatives from the Target corporation, Hampton city leaders and staff, and Henry County commissioners attended the ribbon-cutting held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024. When fully-operational, the new center will handle store distribution for all Georgia locations and much of the southeast. The site can also fulfill consumers’ online orders.
Company executives shared during the event they have hired about 350 team members to date. 42% of the employees are Henry County residents. According to city officials, the company has committed to hire up to 1,200 positions. Another 1,000 seasonal positions could become available during peak times of the year.
Target’s new distribution center is their fourth FLOW center in the US. Others are in the Chicago area, New Jersey and southern California. The new facilities use automation to assist workers in sorting and fulfilling orders. Those interested in employment opportunities can visit Target’s website.
The new distribution center is located off Lower Woolsey Road at the terminus of Georgia 20. This is south of Atlanta Motor Speedway. It is the first-phase of development on a nearly 2,000-acre tract annexed into the city in 2019.
