The McDonough city council approved a construction contract earlier this week for a new roundabout to be located on Postmaster Drive at the entrance to McDonough Middle School. The project will greatly improve traffic flow over the existing three way stop at the intersection.

Two bids were received for the project. The low bid was awarded to C&C Lovejoy, LLC for $375,000.00. The project will be funded using SPLOST IV dollars.

The council also authorized right of way acquisition in the amount of $8,755.00 to purchase 994.30 square feet of land needed for the project. Design work was previously awarded in September 2018 at a cost not to exceed $135,000.

The items were part of McDonough’s consent agenda and passed unanimously without discussion. Construction has previously been estimated at eighteen weeks to complete.
