Construction started in May 2024 on a new Delta Community Credit Union in Locust Grove. It will be at the intersection of highway 42 and Marketplace Blvd.
The new credit union plans to open by early 2025. The company first announced the location in January 2024.
Delta Community Credit Union Locust Grove
Delta Community announced their Locust Grove plans in January. Locust Grove will be their 30th branch location. When the branch opens next year, it will be staffed by ten full-time branch employees. It will feature two drive-thru lanes and two 24-hour ATMs that also function as interactive teller machines (ITMs).
The 5,000-square-foot, full-service branch will be within a 5-mile radius of nearly 8,000 current members who reside in the area. Delta Credit Union presently has three locations in Henry County. They are in Stockbridge, Eagles Landing and McDonough.
Unlike most credit unions, where membership is tied to a specific employer, Delta Community Credit Union allows any metro Atlanta resident to open an account. They also provide banking services for employees of more than 130 businesses. Delta Community is Georgia’s largest credit union.
Special Use Permit & Medical Building
Banks must obtain a special use permit to include a drive-thru in Locust Grove. The Locust Grove city council approved a special permit for the property in October 2019. The plans at the time had a 2,000-3,000 square foot bank building and about 15,000 sq ft single-story medical-office building. The medical-office building will be behind the Delta Credit Union.
A second medical-office building will be south of the Delta Community branch. The city approved rezoning 1.61 acres from RA to OI (office) in April 2024. The applicant plans to construct a 25,000 square foot medical-office building.
