Henry County residents will soon have a larger hospital when Piedmont Henry’s new patient tower is complete in 2026. The hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony for the new tower on Wednesday, May 15.

The expansion represents a $212 million dollar investment by Piedmont Healthcare. Its the largest investment at an existing Piedmont facility since the Marcus Tower opened in Atlanta in 2020.

Piedmont Henry Hospital announced their upcoming expansion in September 2023. It represents the company’s biggest expansion since the North Tower opened in 2006. The hospital presently is licensed for 259 beds.

When complete, the new East Tower will add ninety-six patient rooms. Its a five-story building. This will increase the hospital to 355 beds.

Other aspects of the project include adding the following:

  • three additional operating rooms,
  • a new kitchen and dining area, and
  • new central energy plant.

Finally, the project has shell space on its ground floor. The hospital may use this space for an enlarged future emergency room at a later date. In addition, the design supports the future addition of a second patient tower.

Construction began in early 2024 on the hospital’s expansion. The Piedmont Henry expansion has an estimated completion date in summer 2026.
