Population Estimates 2023: 6,000 New Residents Moving to Henry County
Last year, MHF News published an article suggesting the census bureau’s growth rates were behind actual numbers in Henry County. This was based on housing permit data and separate population estimates by the Atlanta Regional Commission. The census bureau’s estimate appears more consistent this year.
The census bureau has made the following estimates in recent years:
- 6,100 residents from July 2022 to July 2023,
- 3,300 residents in July ’21–2022, and
- 3,100 residents in July ’20–2021.
By comparison, the Atlanta Regional Commission estimated Henry County was home to 258,000 residents in April 2023. This was based on 5,900 and 5,100 residents moving to Henry County in 2021 & 2022. They typically release their population estimates in August.
