
Georgia DOT has awarded a resurfacing contract for US Highway 19 / 41. The project extends between Talmadge Road and Bonanza Church Road in south Clayton County. The state released the announcement on December 31, 2020.
CW Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. of Marietta, GA received the work for the amount of $2,056,959.47. The contract completion date is November 30, 2021.
Motorists can expect lane closures when the resurfacing work starts. Information about scheduled lane closures will be shared in advance by Georgia DOT. Clayton County is located within the Atlanta district for road work notices.
Other Projects
Resurfacing work continues on a separate project further north. Georgia DOT awarded a resurfacing bid for US 19 / 41 between SR 54 in Jonesboro and the Fulton / Clayton County line last summer. The work, also being performed by CW Matthews Contracting Co., has an estimated completion date of August 31, 2021.
Between the two resurfacing jobs, a widening project is under construction. The state awarded the 3.32 mile project for construction in fall 2019. Build costs equal $23.6 million dollars. The project is widening the highway from four lanes to six. Estimated completion is May 2022.
Georgia DOT last resurfaced the section of US 19 / 41 in Henry County in 2011. Previously, GDOT resurfaced the roadway in 1993. The corridor is not presently scheduled for resurfacing.
