Two residential rezoning requests proposed new subdivisions in the Ola community this fall. At the end of the year, one request has been approved and the second awaits a final decision by the board of commissioners.
A new shared building that’s under construction now in Locust Grove plans to offer Starbucks and an urgent care center once finished. The building will be located beside Waffle House.
JWA Ventures and Publix Super Markets announced in September their plans to build a new grocery store on North Ola Road. Grand opening is planned in spring 2021.
The largest story of 2019, gathering over 12,000 reads, was the original rezoning request to build a new grocery store in Ola. The project also includes a new subdivision and preserved space for commercial development along state route 81.
