A request to amend the city’s future land use map and rezone property for industrial purposes is back on the agenda in Locust Grove after being withdrawn earlier this year. The rezoning request is part of the proposed Gardner Commerce Center.
The Locust Grove city council will conduct a public hearing on the request during its meeting on Monday, November 18, at 6 pm. Meetings are held at the city’s public safety building on highway 42. The city will then consider voting on the proposal at its next meeting in December.
In spring 2019, the project was originally filed by Trammell Crow, an industrial construction company out of Atlanta. The new and pending rezoning request has been submitted by GBLG Development, LLC, a company registered in Indiana. The LLC was created on August 29, 2019.
The rezoning application is for twenty-nine acres located on Jackson Street. If the rezoning is approved, the land will be joined with fifty-two acres south of Colvin Drive to build a 1,251,250 square foot warehouse. The original development of regional impact review also contemplated a second phase – a 1,364,000 square foot warehouse on land north of Colvin Drive. According to the applicant’s letter of intent, “GBLG Development does not currently have agreements in place to acquire nor does it plan to develop any land north of Colvin Drive.â€
