The Stockbridge city council approved a contract last week to construct new sidewalks along Davis Road. The work includes a new six foot wide sidewalk along the south side of Davis Road from State Route 42 on the west end to Shields Road on the east end.

Four bids were received for the project. The lowest bid of $510,700 was awarded to Excellere Construction, LLC of Marietta, GA.

The project is funded with eighty percent federal funding and twenty percent local funding. This includes a maximum contribution of $390,000 from federal Transportation Enhancement dollars with the city of Stockbridge responsible for the difference.

Construction is expected to last 180 calendar days.
