SPLOST stands for special purpose local options sales tax. It is a Georgia program created in the 1980’s that allows local counties and cities to consider local sales tax to fund capital projects and transportation improvements. The program has proven successful with every county within the state taking advantage of it.

SPLOST was first passed in Henry County in September 1996, and since then, three subsequent programs have been approved. The program is put before voters every six years asking residents to consider extending the tax collections. The next referendum will be in November 2019.

The SPLOST V committee has been formed by the Henry County Board of Commissioners to encourage public feedback on possible projects and select projects for funding. The committee is holding seventeen meetings around the county to engage with area residents and encourages anyone to attend, ask questions, and suggest improvements.

Dates for all future meetings may be found on the main SPLOST V page. A look at the projects that have been suggested to the committee may be found on the SPLOST V projects page. No final project decisions will be made until December 2018, starting with any countywide projects. District projects will be selected at committee meetings in 2019.
