Many motorists will have likely noticed the ongoing road construction at state route 155 and Bill Gardner Parkway in Luella. In this article, I’ll break down the project and let everyone know what improvements are being made.
Georgia DOT is funding this project to provide safety improvements along the highway. Construction costs are $3.1 million with total project costs approximately $6.2 million.
The intersection at SR 155 and Bill Gardner Parkway will see right-hand turn lanes added on the northbound and southbound approaches. This will separate turning vehicles from the mainline and reduce the likelihood for a rear-end collision.

Improvements are also being installed between Greenwood Industrial and Stoney Brook Way. A center two-way left turn lane will be added north of Greenwood Industrial and run until Hunters Chase, where the lane will serve as a designated left-hand turn lane for northbound traffic.

North of Hunters Chase a small vertical crest in the roadway will be lowered one to two feet to improve intersection sight distances. This will improve safety at the Stoney Brook Way intersection by increasing the driver’s line of sight.
The SR 155 widening project between Bill Gardner Parkway and I-75 is presently budgeted by Georgia DOT for construction in 2029. Any resident who would like to see that project completed earlier is encouraged to contact their state legislators and ask for their assistance in motivating GDOT to kickstart the project earlier.
