Henry County Schools is accepting construction bids for the Ola Middle School expansion. This represents the second classroom addition in education SPLOST VI.
Bids are due on May 23. The school board should consider approving a construction contract in June.
Ola Middle School Expansion
The Ola Middle School expansion includes the addition of 11 classrooms and 3 science labs. Associated offices, restrooms and hallway space are also part of the work. Finally, the contractor will build a new secondary access road into the school. Ola Middle School first opened in August 2006. It is located off North Ola Road in east Henry County.
The new classrooms will support additional student enrollment. The school has 1,105 students as of March 2024. Its enrollment has ranged between 1,100–1,300 during the past decade. There are ten portable classroom trailers at the school now, based on satellite imagery. The expansion will replace the need for these trailers.
In addition, the new access road will provide busses a secondary entrance. The roadway will be off Wilson Drive. School busses going to both Ola High and Ola Middle will be able to take advantage of this. Right now, the only access points are on North Ola Road.
Henry County Schools is accepting construction bids through May 23, 2024. The school district will then consider approving a construction contract. Education SPLOST VI, approved by voters in 2021, is funding the project.
