Henry County approved a contract change order to resurface three additional roads. Transportation SPLOST collections will pay for the work.
The roadways are Ward Road, Dailey Mill Road and Fairview Road. They are located in districts two and three.
Resurface Three Additional Roads
In June 2022, Henry County awarded roadway resurfacing to Blount Construction. At the time, the contract covered 42 miles of roadway for $25 million dollars. Now, the county approved a change order to add three additional roads for resurfacing. The roads, their respective cost and district are below:
- Ward Road, district 2 – $170 thousand
- Dailey Mill Road, district 3 – $105 thousand
- Fairview Road*, district 2 – $135 thousand
- Total – $410 thousand
Henry County set aside $10 million dollars in T-SPLOST funds for road resurfacing. This had $2 million per district. The work above will be paid from these funds.
The board approved the change order at their October 17 meeting. The motion passed 5-0-1 (Wilson abstained).
*the work on Fairview Road consists of patching work on the section between Hearn Road and SR 155.
2024 Resurfacing
Henry County commissioners will consider on November 7 to approve their 2024 LMIG application. This is an annual grant awarded by Georgia DOT. The county receives about $2.5 million dollars each year. With these funds, the county resurfaces local roads.
After approving the grant, the county can place out for bid its 2024 resurfacing contract. The 2024 funds will pay to resurface about seven miles of road.
