Henry County approved the paving of Selfridge Road in Hampton. The presently dirt road is next to Atlanta Speedway Airport.
SPLOST IV funds are paying for the project. SPLOST IV collections ran from 2014–2020.
Selfridge Road Paving
The Selfridge Road paving project extends between Speedway Blvd and Lower Woolsey Road. The project length is about 0.66 miles.
McLeRoy, Inc. of Zebulon, GA submitted the lowest bid to pave the road. Their cost was about $1.95 million. The county received a total of five bids.
The board approved the construction bid at their May 2 meeting. The contractor will have 300 days to complete the work following the notice to proceed. This puts the estimated completion in spring 2024.
To pay for the project, Henry County approved a SPLOST budget amendment. The funds are from other SPLOST IV district 2 projects. The amendment was as follows:
- $500,000 from Hampton-Locust Grove Road
- $125,569 from Mill at Mt Carmel Road
- Total: $625,569
The county originally budgeted $1.6 million for the Selfridge Road paving. The county will have less than $100 thousand remaining in district 2 funds following the project. This effectively exhausts the SPLOST IV district account, pending final close out.
As a whole, SPLOST IV has about six million dollars remaining. The largest account with funds remaining is JP Moseley Park upgrades. It has about $1.4 million. A full program budget is available on the county website’s SPLOST department page, under project master lists.
