Henry County approved its 2023 LMIG application at the February 7 board meeting. LMIG is an annual grant administered by Georgia DOT. The grant represents a primary source of funding to resurface county roads.

In 2023, the county will receive $2.3 million from Georgia DOT. When considered with the requisite local match, Henry County has $3 million in this year’s budget. This amount will resurface an estimated six miles of roadway.

Resurfacing Contract

Henry County typically considers bids for road resurfacing in March. Generally, the board considers contract award in April. This year, the county utilized a technical scoring when selecting which streets to resurface. An outside consultant conducted the evaluation beginning in 2020.

The technical scoring is available in its entirety on the county website (PDF link – 48 pages). This includes a ranking for each county-maintained road.
