A section of Postmaster Drive will see repairs after McDonough approved a patching contract. In addition, the city approved its contribution to a county SPLOST project.
Postmaster Drive Contract
The city council approved a contract to repair Postmaster Drive during the December 12 meeting. Specifically, the contract covers about 321 square yards at the intersection with state route 155.
Onsite Paving of McDonough, GA received the work with a bid valued at $48,757.00. SPLOST IV funds will pay for the work. SPLOST IV finished collections in March 2020.
The project will resurface Postmaster Drive between highway 155 and the post office. The resurfacing extends for about ninety feet. New striping and painting turn arrows are subsequently part of the work. The contract will require an estimated three work days to complete.
SR 20 at Turner Church Road
Secondly, McDonough made a contribution to state route 20 at Turner Church Road. The intersection is located within city limits.
The city set aside $250,000 to assist with the project. Transportation SPLOST, approved by voters in 2021, includes the city’s amount. Georgia DOT previously contributed $500,000 towards the project.
McDonough approved its $250,000 cost-share on December 12. Henry County accepted the contribution during the January 4 board meeting.
The county’s SPLOST V program funded the new roundabout. Henry County awarded a $1.9 million dollar contract in May 2021 to build it. Construction is nearly complete except for street lights.
McDonough’s contribution will reduce the county’s cost-share.
