
Henry County is continuously investing in its public safety fleet. Most recently, the county approved new police vehicles for the SRO unit and K-9 officers.
Board approval occurred in November 2022 and January 2023, respectively. The county also purchased a new ladder truck in November.
SRO Police Vehicles
Henry County Police Department took over the responsibility of providing school resource officers in August 2022. The county purchased twenty new vehicles in November for the unit.
Brannen Motor Company of Unadilla, GA supplied the vehicles. They are 2022 Ford Police Interceptor AWD V6 SUVs. Capital funds paid the $724,000 price tag. The purchase is reimbursable by Henry County Schools.
The county also approved new equipment for the SRO unit at its January 4 board meeting. Henry County purchased twenty mobile radio packages for $123,635. Loudoun Communications Inc. holds the state contract to provide the item. The small equipment funds account paid for the purchase.
K-9 Vehicles
In addition, the county bought five new SUVs for the K-9 unit. Board approval occurred on January 4, 2023.
Hardy Chevrolet of Douglasville, GA will supply the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoes. The purchase price equals $188,215.00. RedSpeed funds paid for the vehicles.
Police Fleet
Finally, the board approved the surplus of old vehicles. Board action occurred on January 4.
The vehicles for surplus included 74 police department vehicles. This includes 34 Crown Victorias dating from years 2003 to 2010. Henry County purchased 150 new police cars in August 2022 so it could phase out the older vehicles.
