Guthrie’s Chicken announced their new location in Locust Grove will open on Monday, January 25, at 10 am. The opening marks Guthrie’s introduction to Henry County.
The eatery is located at the southeast corner of state route 155 and Bill Gardner Parkway. The address is 3030 Bill Gardner Parkway, Locust Grove, GA 30248.
About Guthrie’s
Guthrie’s Chicken established in Auburn, Alabama in 1982. Their menu focuses on fried chicken tenders pioneering the foundation that other companies would later model.
Though early adventures into Georgia have since closed, including a well-known spot in Athens; the company re-launched in the metro Atlanta area starting in 2019. Stores are now open in Canton (two locations) and Mableton. Elsewhere in the state, a Hartwell branch opened on Friday, January 22. The company also operates in Albany and two stores near Chattanooga: Ringgold and Trenton.
Locust Grove will be the 37th location currently open. The company has locations in six states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
The restaurant menu offers fried chicken tenders in a variety of ways: a box with fries and cole slaw, fried chicken tender sandwich, a snack consisting of three tenders and fries, or a bucket of fried tenders. A family meal with 25 tenders and sides is also offered.
About the Development
Construction on the property started in 2019, but the southeast corner was zoned for commercial use years prior. The C-2 zoning predates the 2009 county zoning map. Guthrie’s built on one acre out of a larger area zoned for commercial use.
The property includes two other tenants: Circle K service station and O’Reilly Auto Parts. Two one-acre outparcels remain available for future businesses.
In a separate but related project, the county approved a rezoning request from C-2 (general commercial) to C-3 (highway commercial) during summer 2018. The 2.5 acre property is accessible from Bill Gardner Parkway next to the old railroad bed. The applicant’s planned use is interior access self-storage. The building will mirror Class A office space when complete, though no construction activity has occurred to date.
