Two roads will be resurfaced and a third road patched after county commissioners awarded a maintenance contract at their December meeting. The work is funded through SPLOST dollars.

Six vendors responded to the bid. Pittman Construction of Conyers, GA provided the low bid worth $494,675.00.

Roads to be resurfaced include the following:

  • Archie Drive – Lake Dow Road to McGarity Drive (district 3)
  • Thurman Road – East Atlanta to James Ridge Drive (district 5)

Panola Road between Fairview Road and SR 155 was resurfaced approximately six years ago. The contract includes patching where needed along the roadway.

SPLOST II, collected from 2003 to 2008, has less than $500,000 remaining in its project accounts. This project will use $207,704 of those funds, sourced from district 3 and district 5 resurfacing accounts.

The difference of $286,971 will be sourced from SPLOST IV resurfacing accounts. After this contract, approximately $2,525,000 will remain for road maintenance in the SPLOST IV budget.

Speaking of Panola Road, did you know Georgia DOT has a roundabout project planned at its intersection with state route 155? Learn more here
