The Locust Grove city council approved a rezoning request this week to build a new R-2 subdivision on South Bethany Road. The 25.5 acre tract is located north of the roadway’s intersection with Mose Brown Drive.

The project plans to build fifty 18,000 square foot lots with a minimum of 2,000 square feet of heated floor space per home. Local builder David Standard is developing the property.

No one spoke in opposition to the proposed project during the public hearing in March. The lone speaker, a nearby resident on Jackson Street, inquired if the builder would still be interested if the city approves the 75 South Logistics Center project on Colvin Drive. Mr. Standard replied that yes, he would.

The council voted 5-0 (one absent) to approve the request. No discussion was held at Monday night’s meeting regarding the project.
