McDonough working to address SR 20 at Lawrenceville and McGarity

We previously featured co-op work between Locust Grove and the state for work on Bill Gardner Parkway and SR 42. This article looks at McDonough’s efforts with Georgia DOT.

McDonough has partnered with Georgia DOT to advance improvements at the double-intersection created along State Route 20 by Lawrenceville Street and McGarity Road.

The solution will involve a dual roundabout, which is a common design utilized to improve this type of road configuration. It will convert each intersection into an individual roundabout, with a center median on SR 20 between the roundabouts. Traffic flow for Fairview Dr will be incorporated into the design.

McDonough has contributed $750,000 from SPLOST IV to fund preliminary engineering. The state is expected to fund construction in 2021.
