In December 2017, residents were invited to see plans for the Western Parallel Connector and provide feedback to GDOT staff. The connector will be a new four-lane roadway connecting Hudson Bridge Road, Jodeco Road, and Jonesboro Road. The project goal is to provide local traffic a time-saving option instead of using I-75.
The roadway has been envisioned by Henry County since at least 2012 and funding for the project was awarded in June 2017. The project is currently under design and construction is scheduled to begin in 2022. A nearby project to widen Jonesboro Road has been postponed.
