Today in Henry February 19, 2025
Happy Wednesday! We have reached the mid-way point of the week.
Today’s headline is about school performance. The state shared the lowest-performing 25% of schools list, as required by last year’s school voucher law. Twenty-three HCS schools are on it; that’s a little under half of the district. Some may refer to this list as “failing schools.” I don’t and here’s why: the state law requires a list of the lowest 25%. Statistically, that’s one in four schools in Georgia. Every school in Georgia could improve, and next year’s list will have the same number of schools on it, actually more as new schools open.
