Q: What is building on Highway 20, west of Oakland Road?
A: A new convenience store and gas station is under construction at this location. The owner will be Royal Seven; they own and operate several locations throughout Henry County.
Q: Will there be a traffic light or roundabout at Georgia 20 and Kelleytown Road?
A: There are not presently any active plans to improve Georgia 20 at Kelleytown Road. Any changes to the intersection would require the coordination and approval from Georgia DOT.
Q: What is under construction on the south side of Jonesboro Road, west of Kelly Road?
A: A new self-storage business is under construction. The property was rezoned in September 2022.
Q: What is building on Mill Road south of the flea market? What about Jonesboro Road between Bojangles and City Barbeque?
A: Emblem Mill Road will be a new 324-unit apartment complex. Oak Grove Vista is building on Jonesboro Road. It will have 348 apartments. Both projects were rezoned in summer 2022.
Q: Are there plans to improve Dutchtown Road between Jonesboro Road and Mt. Carmel Road?
A: Yes, Henry County will be improving Dutchtown Road. The developer of Heritage Pointe subdivision, Lennar Georgia, has agreed to pay for improving the road adjacent to their subdivision. The county will improve the rest of Dutchtown Road as part of an upcoming SPLOST project.

Q: When will the widening of Jonesboro Road begin?
A: The widening of Jonesboro Road, between Mill Road and North Mt. Carmel Road, may begin construction in 2025. The project anticipates right of way acquisition to start during summer 2024.
Q: Will there be improvements to Nail Road considering the school district’s new bus facility is under construction?
A: Commissioner Lewis has collaborated with county staff to allocate funds to minor widen and resurface Nail Road. Any changes to its intersection with state route 81 would require state DOT approval.
Q: When will the Bill Gardner Parkway widening start?
A: The BGP widening, from I-75 to SR 155, is presently finalizing the utility relocation plans. It should start right of way acquisition later this year. Construction may start in 2025.
Q: What is building across from Publix at Lake Dow in McDonough?
A: Construction is for various commercial outparcels. More info is available in our March 2023 article.
