Fewer meetings than usual are happening the week of February 17, 2025. That’s because several meetings which usually occur this week will instead happen next week. This week, meetings include the McDonough council, Hampton council and Stockbridge Councilman Alexander’s town hall.

Meetings the Week of February 17, 2025

McDonough Council

First, the McDonough council meets Monday evening at 6 pm. They meet at McDonough City Hall.

Agenda items include concept plan review for a new gas station on Willow Lane. This will presumably be one of the last new gas stations in the city because they adopted a buffer requirement last month. The full agenda is available here.

Hampton Council

Next, the Hampton council has two hearings to discuss House Bill 581. HB 581 is the statewide floating homestead exemption which voters approved in November. The hearings will be on Tuesday, February 18, at 10 am and 6:30 pm. Hampton City Hall is located at 17 East Main Street.

Georgia law requires at least three hearings for a local entity to opt-out of HB 581. Hampton has not advertised a third hearing date.

Stockbridge Councilman Alexander Town Hall

Stockbridge Councilman Alexander will host his quarterly town hall meeting on Thursday, February 20, at 7 pm. It will be at JW Event Suites, 416 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge. Discussion topics are community development, public safety, transportation, homestead exemption and VyStar Amphitheater.

Meetings Next Week

The Locust Grove council and Henry County Board of Commissioners typically meet during the third week of the month. Both boards have moved their meeting to next week.
