How many people call Henry County home? The US Census Bureau has shared its 2024 population estimate for counties and cities.

The US Census Bureau releases annual population estimates. They also coordinate the decennial census, next coming up in 2030, when they count everyone in the USA.

Henry County 2024 Population Estimate

The US Census Bureau estimates that Henry County had a July 2024 population of 259,315 residents. This is an increase of about 4,400 residents over the July 2023 estimate. It amounts to 18,610 new residents since the April 2020 census. Housing those new residents are an estimated 6,945 new homes.

City Populations

The US Census Bureau has estimated every city in Henry County gained population between 2023-2024. One year ago, the bureau’s original 2023 estimates had year-over-year population declines for Hampton and Stockbridge. The bureau’s subsequent revisions have now revised that to be an increase for Hampton from 2022-2023.

Altogether, the four cities had 89,646 residents in July 2024. This equates to 34.6% of the county’s overall population. Now, let’s look at each city:

A Glimpse Into the Future

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) last updated their long-range forecast in 2024. They estimate Henry County will be home to 346,000 residents in the year 2050.

Metro Atlanta has an estimated 6.4 million residents. That makes Atlanta presently the eighth-largest metro in the US according to the 2024 estimates. The Atlanta region was briefly the sixth-largest in the 2023 estimates. Miami and Washington, D.C. reclaimed their spots in the past year.

The ARC estimates the region will grow to 7.9 million residents by 2050. This would be an increase of 1.8 million people from 2020 to 2050.
