Ola High School Addition Awarded by School District

The Ola High School classroom addition, the fourth such project to move forward in E-SPLOST 6, will soon start construction. Henry County Schools approved the construction bid at their April 2025 meeting. The board also approved a furniture purchase for the Ola Middle School classroom addition. The middle school addition is presently under construction.

Ola High School Classroom Addition

The Ola High School classroom addition will build ten new classrooms onto the existing building. This includes eight regular classrooms and two science labs. The new classrooms will be located at the front of the building. They will be between the parking lot and existing building.

Henry County Schools accepted construction bids in March for the project. They received six bids. MEJA Construction of Peachtree City was the low bidder. The construction cost will be $6.53 million. It is paid for by education SPLOST 6.

Work will begin this summer on the new addition. It will be complete by May 2027. The new classrooms will be ready for the 2027-2028 school year.

Ola Middle School Furniture

The school board also approved a furniture purchase for the Ola Middle School addition. The board approved the OMS addition in June 2024. That project is building 14 new classrooms. It will also build a new access road from Wilson Drive to the school’s bus lane. The project’s substantial completion date is October 2025.

Furniture for the new classrooms will come from Ernie Morris Enterprises, Inc. The cost totals $244,521.21. E-SPLOST 6 funds will pay for it.

E-SPLOST 6 Classroom Projects

E-SPLOST 6 has nine major projects to build new classroom space in Henry County. They include three new schools and six classroom additions. So far, the Dutchtown High School classroom addition and Birch Creek Elementary School are complete. The STEM High School, Ola Middle and Dutchtown Middle additions are under construction. The Ola High addition is the sixth project to enter construction. The remaining three projects include a new elementary school in Locust Grove, and classroom additions at Locust Grove High & Union Grove Middle Schools. All projects will be complete by 2028.
