Happy St Patrick’s Day! This week, the McDonough council, Henry County BOC and Stockbridge Planning Commission have meetings. The Stockbridge council is also holding its retreat. This is your look at meetings the week of March 17, 2025.

Meetings The Week of March 17, 2025

McDonough Council

First, the McDonough council meets on Monday, March 17, at 6 pm. The council meets at McDonough City Hall.

Agenda items include the following zoning item: Racetrack Road townhomes, a developer’s proposal for 94 townhomes on 14 acres near the new roundabout. A second zoning item, a land owner’s request to annex 16 acres on McGarity Road as part of a larger subdivision project, has been postponed.

Board of Commissioners Called Meeting

The Henry County BOC will hold a called meeting on Tuesday, March 18, at 4 pm. The board meets at the county admin building on Henry Parkway in McDonough. The called meeting will be for a public hearing and consideration of The Grove. The project is a large mixed-use development proposing over 7,000 housing units north of Hampton.

Board of Commissioners Regular Meeting

The board’s regular meeting will follow on Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm. Agenda items include consideration to hire a design engineer for State Route 81 widening, phase 2. This project extends from North Bethany Road, where phase 1 will end, to Keys Ferry Road in Ola. Phase 1 is presently buying right of way.

In addition, county staff will notify the board of two annexation requests received by the city of Stockbridge. These items, whether to annex the property, will be the decision of the Stockbridge council.

Stockbridge Planning Commission

Next, the Stockbridge Planning Commission meets on Thursday, March 20, at 6:30 pm. The board has one agenda item. They will consider a city-initiated rezoning request for 15 acres the city owns on North Henry Blvd. The city is proposing to rezone the property to PUD (planned unit development) for a subdivision. The city council typically considers rezoning requests at their meeting in the following month.

Stockbridge Retreat

Finally, the Stockbridge council has a three-day retreat. It is on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week at Tru by Hilton hotel on Patrick Henry Parkway. An agenda for each day is on the city’s agenda website.
