Sierra McDonough
Tomorrow’s News Today reported on Tuesday, May 14, that Sierra would be leasing space in McDonough. The retailer is a discount store for outdoor gear & apparel, owned by the TJX Companies, Inc. They own TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods.
The new retailer will occupy about 20,000 square feet of space at Henry Town Center. A site plan uploaded by Kite Realty, owners of the shopping center, confirms this information. The former Bed Bath and Beyond closed in 2023. The space is located between Ross and Famous Footwear.

Tomorrow’s News Today shared the following about Sierra:
Sierra, originally Sierra Trading Post, started in Reno, Nevada in 1986 before being acquired by TJX for an estimated $200 million in 2012. At the time of the acquisition, Sierra was predominantly an e-commerce business with only four physical locations.
Today there are 97 stores across 30 states with at least four more opening in the next few weeks, according to the company’s website.
For the TJX fiscal year ended February 3, 2024, 17 Sierra “doors” were opened. Another 26 are slated to open in the current fiscal year, CFO John Klinger said in February.

The I-75 at Jonesboro Road vicinity has seen major new construction activity since 2019 – mostly new apartment complexes. Some new retail is now following the additional population. Earlier this year, Publix opened its new Shops at Walnut Creek location. In addition, City BBQ opened at Mt. Carmel Road. A new RaceTrac service station & Starbucks are coming soon next door.
Last month, MHF News shared Raising Cane’s has submitted a permit application. They are looking to build at the site of the former O’Charley’s restaurant. This would be their first location in Henry County.
