A new RaceTrac service station is coming soon at Jonesboro Road and Mt. Carmel Road. The new gas station will join other tenants like City Barbeque and Starbucks.
In 2015, Henry County received a grant for a new park & ride lot on Jonesboro Road. In 2020, the State Road & Tollway Authority purchased ten acres for the future lot. The RaceTrac and other businesses are on commercial outparcels in front of the future lot. There is no estimate when the park & ride may build.
RaceTrac Jonesboro Road

In January 2024, RaceTrac submitted a permit application to build their new location. It will occupy the center outparcel. The property has 2.09 acres. By comparison, other RaceTrac locations within the area have 1.6–3 acres.
RaceTrac does not presently have a location on Jonesboro Road. However, this is not their first time looking at the corridor. In fall 2018, the company proposed a location at Jonesboro Road and Willow Lane. They subsequently withdrew their rezoning application.
A new gas station can take about one year to build.
Starbucks, City Barbeque & Oak Grove Vista
A new City Barbeque began construction in October 2023. It’s expected to open by spring 2024. The restaurant — new to the McDonough area — has five other locations in metro Atlanta. They are based in Dublin, Ohio.
Also joining the area will be a new Starbucks. This will be the third Starbucks on Jonesboro Road, and first on the east side of I-75. The new coffeehouse applied for their building permit in January 2024.
Finally, Vista Residential began construction in December on their new apartments project. When complete, Oak Grove Vista will have 348 units and retail space.
