The Locust Grove council approved architectural renderings for a new self-storage business within the city. The property is off Tanger Blvd parallel to I-75.
Council approval happened at the March 6 meeting. The project has two halves: an interior self-storage building and outdoor storage buildings.

Starlight Equities, LLC of Atlanta, GA submitted renderings for the new outdoor storage. They previously submitted renderings for the first phase of their project last August. Phase 1 is a three-story interior-access building; whereas, phase 2 has eight outdoor buildings.
No zoning action was necessary on the part of the city for either phase. The interior units will be on commercial-zoned property. Likewise, the outdoor storage is on land with an existing industrial zoning district. The city council reviews architectural renderings for all new commercial and industrial structures within Locust Grove.
The property is south of Tanger Outlets. The interior-access building will be across the street from the driver services office. The outdoor buildings will be further south.
Following architectural approval, construction can now proceed forward on the project. The building exteriors are predominantly brick. Storage options will include 638 units within the main building, seven outdoor storage buildings, and finally, one building for RV storage. A timeline for construction was not immediately available.
Also on Tanger Blvd, a new gas station is under construction at Indian Creek Road. Finally, land next to Hampton Inn and Taco Bell will be home to 300 new apartments.
