The Locust Grove city council meets on Monday night, February 6. The council is expected to vote on requests for a container restaurant and brewery, and new trailer parking.
The city council meets at the Locust Grove Public Safety Building beginning at 6 pm. Meetings are open to the public.
Container Brewery
The proposed restaurant and microbrewery is located on Carter Lane next to Southpoint Church. The most unique aspect of the request, if approved, would be the use of shipping containers. A container each would house the kitchen and microbrewery. An outdoor patio would connect the space.
The council will vote whether to change the land use map and rezone the property. In addition, the city must modify its alcohol distancing ordinance to exclude the subject property. The project cannot proceed without this change.
City staff recommended approval. The council held a public hearing about the project in January. One neighbor spoke in opposition.
Trailer Parking
Secondly, the council will vote on a request to modify zoning conditions. The property in question has thirty-one acres located off highway 42.
One year ago, the applicant received rezoning to construct two distribution centers. Following additional land surveying, they are now seeking to amend zoning conditions to allow trailer parking. According to the applicant, the property is not suitable for warehouse buildings.
Other agenda items include voting to approve architectural renderings for a new convenience store at Indian Creek Road. The council will also consider renderings for new apartments off Tanger Blvd.
