Henry County is presently accepting construction bids for a new roundabout at Racetrack Road and Iris Lake in McDonough. The SPLOST V program is paying for the project.
Construction bids are due by Wednesday, August 17, at 3 pm. Afterwards, the county will consider awarding a bid to the lowest bidder.
In addition, construction approval requires an intergovernmental agreement between Henry County and the city of McDonough. The IGA is so McDonough can contribute to the build cost of the project. Both the city and county identified the location on SPLOST V project lists.
Racetrack Road at Iris Lake roundabout
Henry County awarded a design contract for the project in October 2020. Design work and right of way acquisition since followed. Now, construction may proceed.
The project contractor, once chosen, will have 240 days to complete the project. Weather delays and supply chain constraints could result in construction taking longer.
Other Intersection Projects
SPLOST V includes several intersection projects. Here are the latest updates:
- State Route 20 at Turner Church Road – road reopened in early August. Construction in final punch list.
- SR 155 at Greenwood Industrial – construction in progress. Concrete expected on August 8.
- Bridges Road at Willow Lane – right of way acquisition in progress. Two of five purchase agreements signed.
- East Lake Road at Airline Road – design in progress. Final plans in review.
