The city of Locust Grove will hold a public hearing later this month for the Singley Drive annexation request. The meeting will occur on Monday, February 21, starting at 6 pm. The city council meets at the public safety building off highway 42.
At this time, the applicant / land owner has withdrawn the concurrent rezoning request. They previously submitted a rezoning request last September before Henry County objected to the proposed development.
Singley Drive annexation request
The annexation request consists of 254 +/- acres. The land is south of Locust Grove High and Middle Schools. Singley Road Partners, LLC and MBT South Ola, LLC — both of Stockbridge, GA — purchased the properties in December 2021.
The city council must decide whether the properties should join city limits or remain in unincorporated Henry County. The decision whether to annex the land rests solely with the city of Locust Grove.
The council typically votes on zoning matters two weeks following the public hearing. Their regular March meeting is scheduled for March 7.
No change in zoning is being considered at this time. The properties presently have an RA (residential agricultural) zoning district. The RA zoning would remain if the city annexes the land. Because there’s no longer a request to change the zoning, Henry County had to withdraw its objection to the proposed annexation.
If the council approves the annexation request, then the land owner may request a subsequent rezoning request after one year.
