Henry County Schools has announced four schools will suspend on-campus learning for the remainder of the semester. The schools will move to virtual learning for all students on Thursday, December 17, and Friday, December 18.

The four schools affected are Eagle’s Landing Middle, Stockbridge Middle, Rock Spring Elementary, and Timber Ridge Elementary. Tussahaw Elementary transitioned to virtual learning last week.

The district stated: “After careful review and consideration of the recent school health metrics and in consultation with local health officials, [the schools] will suspend on-campus learning through the remainder of the semester due to a consistent increase in the number of individuals at the school required to quarantine. Students and staff will transition to remote learning effective tomorrow, December 17 through Friday, December 18.”

Superintendent Mary Elizabeth Davis addressed the possible closure of schools earlier this week. The school district evaluates COVID-19 case numbers multiple times a day. The district collaborates with the Georgia Department of Public Health on guidance if / when it becomes necessary to close on-campus learning at a school or cluster of schools.

The district prepared a document with FAQs for each impacted school:

On-campus learners may continue to pick up a daily curbside meal service. They can do so from the school’s bus lane between 12 and 1 pm each day. All students that opted for semester break meals may pick them up at the bus lane on Friday, December 18, from 12 to 1 pm.
