A portion of Colvin Drive will be closed beginning on Monday, November 30, based on information shared late Sunday night by the city of Locust Grove. The closure is to allow for the reconstruction of the roadway to support future heavy truck traffic.
The closure is located between state route 42 and Davis Lake Road. Detour signage is provided on Davis Lake Road and Jackson Street.
The length of the closure is expected to be a minimum of three weeks, but may be longer due to weather conditions and coordination with utilities and Norfolk Southern railroad.
See below for the city’s full release:
Please note that beginning Monday, November 30, 2020 after 9:00 AM, signs will be going up for a detour of Colvin Drive between Davis Lake Road and SR 42 for reconstruction of this section for industrial traffic and improvements at both the rail crossing and signalization at SR 42. Closure will be at a minimum of three (3) weeks but may be longer due to weather delays and coordination with utilities and railroad.
A detour is posted using Davis Lake southbound to Jackson Street northbound back to SR 42.
Alternatively, traffic coming from the East headed northbound to McDonough can use South Bethany to Harris Drive.
