County commissioners have approved the allocation for $19.8 million dollars. The SPLOST IV funds were collected over and above the original projected budget. The funds are in addition to the $142.5 million first estimated for Henry County collections.
Voters approved the SPLOST IV program in November 2013. Then, a one-percent local sales tax was collected from April 2014 to March 2020. Collections for the most recent program, SPLOST V, started on April 1.

Purchasing Bids for Two Projects
Two projects mentioned above have accepted construction bids in June. The board will consider approving them at an upcoming meeting. The projects are dirt road paving Peeksville Road and widening West Village Parkway.
Pittman Construction of Conyers, GA submitted the low bid for Peeksville Road. Their bid was $1,384,109.75. Remaining SPLOST IV funds on the project, to include the above referenced increase, total $1,973,385.
The low bid to widen West Village Parkway equals $6,472,287.00. CW Matthews Contracting of Marietta, GA submitted it. Remaining SPLOST IV funds total $5,833,219. A portion of SPLOST V district 5 funds will cover the cost difference.
Finally, both projects will incur utility relocation costs separate from construction.
