Georgia DOT has awarded a contract to install raised pavement markers along ten miles of Interstate 75 in Henry County. Bids for the project were accepted on April 17 and the contract was awarded on May 1.
The project extends between state route 155 / mile 216 and Walt Stephens Road / mile 226. An estimated 11,000 raised pavement markers will be installed during the project.
The contract was awarded to TRP Construction Group of Fort Worth, TX for $376,643.75. The project also includes the upgrading of the existing lane striping to thermoplastic striping.
Raised pavement markers and updated striping will increase roadway visibility for drivers during nighttime hours or in poor weather conditions. Georgia DOT has programmed striping projects on interstates throughout the state to improve travel conditions.
Once complete, raised pavement markers will be installed on I-75 throughout Henry County. Other projects in the last year have provided the increased visibility elsewhere within the county.
More information about lane closures for the project will be shared through social media when scheduled. The lane closures are restricted to overnight hours. The contractual completion date is March 31, 2021.
