A common source of community frustration should see improvements thanks to upcoming concrete rehabilitation work on I-75 at I-675 in Stockbridge. Georgia DOT awarded a contract on July 31 for the work extending between state route 54 / mile 233 and Walt Stephens Road / mile 226.

Concrete rehabilitation is similar to asphalt resurfacing, but replaces and repairs damaged slabs instead of the entire roadway surface. This process is required because the roadway surface is concrete through this portion of I-75.

The low bid was awarded to Webber, LLC of The Woodlands, TX in the amount of $15,420,200.00. The contract completion date is June 30, 2021.

Rain storms often result in tractor-trailer slides into the grassy area off I-75 southbound where the interstate merges with I-675. Jackknifed vehicles and overturned trailers have also occurred resulting in lengthy delays as crews temporarily close the interstate to clear accidents.

To address this common occurrence, full depth lane and shoulder replacement will occur along I-75 southbound where illustrated above. The roadway will be regraded in the process.
