Georgia DOT is advising motorists about upcoming lane closures on state route 155 and Interstate 75. Lane closures will occur during overnight hours, except when restricted for the holidays, starting Monday, December 9, 2019 through the end of January 2020.
State Route 155
The first project is for contractors to complete lane striping as part of resurfacing work along state route 155 between McDonough and the DeKalb County line. The work will be completed between the hours of 8 pm and 6 am.
While the crew and their multiple vehicles are striping the lanes, they’ll be moving slowly up and down the state highway as the work progresses. Motorists are urged to be alert for the vehicles and to slowly and carefully pass them if encountered.
The resurfacing work is being completed by E R Snell Contractor, Inc. for $5.1 million.
Interstate 75
The second project is the much-anticipated installation of raised pavement markers and updated striping on I-75 between the Clayton County line / mile 228 and the Walt Stephens Road overpass / mile 226. Work crews will begin at 9 pm nightly working until the following times:
- 5 am on weekdays
- 10 am on Saturday mornings
- Noon on Sunday mornings
A rolling double-lane closure will be in effect around the work zone as the crews vehicles move up and down the interstate. Drivers should be aware that lane closures could be in either the southbound or northbound lanes, and they should moderate their speeds in the area and watch for signage alerting them to the possibility of the crew working ahead of them. All motorists should drive through the work zone carefully, paying special attention to the workers and their equipment.
The project is being completed by Peek Pavement Markings, LLC for $588,335.
A second project will let in April 2020 to install raised pavement markers between Walt Stephens Road and state route 155, where crews will tie-in with this summer’s resurfacing project to provide continuous reflectors on I-75 through Henry County.
