

Close to seven-hundred Locust Grove residents cast their ballots this week in the city’s election for mayor and council members. A one vote difference decided the third and final seat on the ballot.
Incumbent Carlos Greer received the most votes to win a second term. Greer received 431 votes, or 30.72%.
The second through fourth place finishers were separated by a mere twelve votes. Finishing second and winning his first term, Rod Shearouse received 276 votes, or 19.67%.
For the third and final seat, newcomer Rudy Breedlove edged incumbent Otis Hammock 265 votes to 264. Breedlove is elected to the council after previously working almost twelve years for the city’s public works department.
Michael Brackett, Jr finished in fifth with 160 votes, or 11.40%.
In other ballot items, Mayor Robert Price was uncontested and won election to his third term. City residents also passed Sunday brunch alcohol sales 59.40% yes to 40.60% no.
