The zoning advisory board approved a conditional use permit for a new assisted living facility off South Mt Carmel Road at their November meeting. The facility proposes one-hundred ninety-nine (199) units on 11.713 +/- acres.

The assisted living facility is being proposed by WePartner Managers, LLC of Peachtree Corners, GA. WePartner is also the applicant behind the new outdoor adventure park on Iris Lake Road in McDonough.

The facility proposes to construct a variety of units, including a one-hundred unit independent living wing, fifty-unit assisted living wing, thirty-unit memory care wing, and nineteen independent living detached cottages. The center will offer shared amenities for use by all tenants.

The facility will be age-restricted to those fifty-five years or older. In the applicant’s letter of intent, they state many tenants will likely be seventy-five or older.

Because the request is for a conditional use permit, the ZAB has approval powers. The case will be heard by the board of commissioners only in the event of an appeal by either the applicant or an adjacent land owner.

Planning staff have recommended approval with five (5) conditions. The staff report is available to view on the county website.

The article was originally published prior to conditional use permit being considered by the zoning advisory board. It has been updated following the ZAB meeting on November 14.
