The South Point activity center off I-75 exit 218 in McDonough could soon see additional commercial development after the McDonough city council approved a rezoning request along South Point Boulevard. 4.57 acres were rezoned from RTD (residential townhomes) to C-3 (highway commercial).
The land was previously rezoned in 2013 as part of the South Point Village rezoning. Springs at McDonough has since built along the roadway, containing 268 multifamily units.

The conceptual site plan depicts a handful of commercial buildings in various sizes. No information about possible tenants was shared by the applicant.
The request was approved by a 6-0 vote of the city council. There were no speakers during the public hearing for the request.
