A smoother ride along I-75 is coming soon for residents in southern Henry County, but it won’t take place as early as first anticipated. Georgia DOT rejected the bids for interstate resurfacing work between SR 155 / exit 216 and SR 36 / exit 201 after the only bid came back higher than expected.
The only bid received in August was $39,037,659 from CW Matthews Contracting & E R Snell Contractor. GDOT rejected this bid and has rescheduled the project for rebidding. The state has split the work into separate projects for southbound and northbound travel lanes.
Project M005931 to resurface I-75 southbound will be bid out in December. Project M005817 for the northbound lanes will be bid out in February 2019.
Georgia DOT’s upcoming maintenance schedule also includes SR 155 north of McDonough. Project M004959 will resurface the highway from Jonesboro Road to the DeKalb County line and be bid out in December.
