A new e-commerce fulfillment center in McDonough may now proceed to construction after receiving approval from the city council. Requests for annexation into the city and rezoning from RA (Residential Agriculture) to M-1 (light manufacturing) were heard during the council meeting on May 21, 2018.

McDonough Commerce Center II will build one warehouse totaling 728,000 square feet located on 81 areas of land. The project is on State Route 42 across the street from the Toys ‘R’ Us distribution center. Site access will be via two driveways and the appropriate turn lanes are included.

The warehouse will be constructed by Ridgeline Property Group based out of Atlanta. The company previously constructed the first McDonough Commerce Center located on Avalon Pkwy. Work on that project concluded in 2017.

McDonough required a seventy-five foot vegetation buffer around the property. This will help visual appearance and improve sound buffering. The large buffer will also serve as a break point between residential land use to the north, and the large concentration of warehouses within the existing freight cluster.

This project supports economic goals for industrial growth to occur within established areas and to create large vegetation buffers between residents and warehouses.
