Jonesboro Road was postponed by Georgia DOT and removed from current funding in July 2018.
This is part 3 of the GDOT projects series after a joint meeting between Georgia Department of Transportation project managers and the Henry County Board of Commissioners.
SR 155 between I-75 and SR 81 :: Construction 2022
SR 155 north of the interstate will be widened from two lanes to four lanes. The project will terminate at SR 81 improving the flow of traffic for the industrial areas, new McDonough High School, and drivers bypassing the McDonough Square. A public information open house is expected during the first quarter of 2018.
The original scope of work was to terminate at US 23 / SR 42. After GDOT conducted the traffic analysis, it was determined that SR 81 is the logical termini. Logical termini are used when federal dollars are being utilized to justify its a quality expenditure. Online information for this project shows SR 42 as the terminating point, and such information will be updated in a few months once the new endpoint has received final approval.
Jonesboro Road between I-75 and US 19 / 41 :: Construction 2022
Jonesboro Road will be widened from two lanes to four lanes. A second segment being widened concurrently is from US 19 / 41 to SR 54 in Fayetteville. This will create a continuous four-lane connection between McDonough and Fayetteville.
Auxiliary lanes will be added between Mill Road and I-75 Southbound. This will create a six-lane segment between the two intersections.
Preliminary engineering has been completed for this project. Right of way acquisition will begin in 2018 and construction is set for 2022. The project includes bike lanes and five-foot sidewalks.
