New residential subdivisions are on the horizon in Hampton. According to a city presentation, seven projects will build 1,770 new units in the city. This includes new subdivisions, townhomes and apartments.
New Subdivisions in Hampton
As of May 2025, there are seven new residential projects forthcoming in the city of Hampton. Those projects include the following:
- Avilla – 251 Residential Units
- Minter Drive – 690 Residential Units
- Henderson Farms – 166 Residential Units
- Madeline Park – 27 Residential Units
- Glenmaye – 165 Residential Units
- Gates of Floyd Lake – 383 Residential Units
- Oakchase – 87 Residential Units
The largest project, located on Minter Drive, received its zoning approval in fall 2022. The project has a mix of apartments, townhomes and single-family homes. Some commercial space was also on the original plan.
Henderson Farms (site 3) is part of a larger mixed-use development first put forth in 2008. The ‘08 plan had single-family homes, apartments, office and retail space. The land owner applied for and was annexed into Hampton in spring 2022. Most recently, Hampton approved a conditional use permit for a data center to locate on part of the site. The data center will be north of Georgia 20.
Glenmaye (site 5) is under construction off Hampton-Locust Grove Road. The subdivision will offer single-family homes and townhomes. Close by, the city has awarded a construction contract for a new roundabout at HLG Road and McDonough Street. The roundabout is a city of Hampton T-SPLOST project.
Finally, Gates of Floyd Lake (site 6) will be a new single-family subdivision. It is located between Floyd Road and South Hampton Road. The project received zoning approval in March 2020.
City Population
The US Census Bureau released last month their 2024 population estimates for cities. The Census Bureau estimated Hampton had 9,201 residents as of July 1, 2024. This makes Hampton the smallest of the county’s four cities.
