Henry County has approved a construction bid to build a new roundabout in McDonough. It will be at Henry Parkway and Henry Parkway Connector. The roundabout is among the first SPLOST VI projects to start construction.
Henry Parkway at Henry Parkway Connector Roundabout
Henry Parkway at Henry Parkway Connector is located in southwest McDonough. It is near Mercer’s McDonough campus as well as the county admin office. The new aquatic center is also under construction in the immediate vicinity. It is set to open in summer 2026. The aquatic center and outdoor water park is located on Henry Parkway Connector.
Lastly, the southwest segment of McDonough Parkway ties into the intersection. That road section is complete awaiting a connection to the Georgia 20 widening project before it can open. It should open within the next year after Georgia DOT contractors finish a new roundabout at Georgia 20 and McDonough Parkway. The Georgia 20 roundabout is part of the Georgia 20 widening project.
Henry County accepted construction bids through May 7, 2025 for the Henry Parkway project. The county received 14 bids. B.R.T.U. Construction, Incorporated of Forest Park, GA provided the lowest bid in the amount of $2,134,590.10.

The project will construct a two-lane roundabout. It supports four travel lanes carrying Henry Parkway Connector. Motorists coming off Henry Parkway will be able to turn left towards Georgia 20 or right towards Georgia 155.
The board of commissioners approved the construction bid on June 3. The contractor will have 300 days from the notice to proceed to complete the project.
Henry County and the city of McDonough will share 50% / 50% in the project costs. It was a joint project identified by the SPLOST VI intergovernmental agreement. SPLOST VI collections began on April 1. Since then, Henry County has awarded several road design contracts. Henry Parkway at Henry Parkway Connector is among the first construction contracts alongside road resurfacing work.
Three Roundabouts
In the future, there will be three roundabouts on Henry Parkway Connector. This includes the aforementioned roundabouts at Georgia 20 and Henry Parkway. Finally, Georgia DOT plans to construct a roundabout at Georgia 155 and Henry Pkwy Connector. The third roundabout will be part of the GA 155 widening project. The state DOT estimates construction on SR 155 will start in 2027.
