What Industries are in Henry County?

There were about 72,000 jobs in Henry County as of 2022. Retail trade is the largest job sector by industry. It accounts for 15.7% of all jobs. Accommodation and food service, and health care workers are second and third. The fourth sector, administrative and waste management sector, includes many support services. Examples include office assistants, call center workers, pest control and landscapers.

Transportation and warehousing, manufacturing and wholesale trade, when considered together, totaled 18.6% of the available jobs in 2022. Many of these jobs are located within the State Route 155 / South Henry County freight cluster. Henry County, as well as the cities of McDonough and Locust Grove, have recently applied for a freight cluster grant for the area.

From 2020 to 2024, the Henry County Development Authority collaborated with private employers to secure over 8,000 new jobs coming to Henry County. This included several new manufacturing employers. Examples like Zinus USA, Inc. and Purple mattress, both announced in 2020, created over 1,100 new positions in furniture and mattress manufacturing. Most recently, Renewal by Andersen has built a new windows manufacturing facility in Locust Grove. They plan to employ 900 individuals when fully operational.
