The Locust Grove and McDonough councils have meetings on Monday night. Plus, the Stockbridge Planning Commission meets on Thursday, May 22. This is a look at meetings happening the week of May 19, 2025.

Meetings the Week of May 19, 2025

Locust Grove Council

The Locust Grove city council meets on Monday, May 19, at 6 pm. The council meets at the city’s public safety building on Highway 42. This is the city’s workshop meeting when council members will discuss agenda items and city departments share a monthly report. The council votes on items at their regular meeting held on the first Monday of the month.

The city council has a variety of topics to consider, including the following:

  • [Public Hearing] consider rezoning 0.99 acres at 917 Jackson Street from RA to OI to repurpose the existing home for a proposed counseling center,
  • [Public Hearing] consider rezoning 3.27 acres at 77 Rosser Lane from RA to R-2 to subdivide the property to build two single-family homes,
  • approve a renewed intergovernmental agreement for Henry County to administer the city elections; this agenda item is being considered by every city in the county;
  • consider updates to various city personnel policies, and
  • review streetlight districts and final plats for various new subdivisions.

McDonough Council

Next, the McDonough council will meet on Monday, May 19, at 6 pm. The McDonough council meets at McDonough City Hall on Keys Ferry Street. This is the city’s regular meeting when they hold public hearings on rezoning items and vote on them. The McDonough council holds a workshop meeting on the first Thursday of the month.

The McDonough council will consider the following items:

  • [Public Hearing] consider rezoning 14 acres on Racetrack Road from RA to RTD (townhome district) for a townhome development,
  • [Public Hearing] consider annexing and rezoning 16 acres on McGarity Road for a new single-family home subdivision,
  • approve resurfacing contracts valued at $2.36 million for various city streets,
  • approve a renewed intergovernmental agreement for Henry County to administer the city elections; this agenda item is being considered by every city in the county; and
  • hear a presentation on the city’s FY 2026 budget.

Stockbridge Planning Commission

**This meeting was originally scheduled for May 15. It was moved to Thursday, May 22, at 6:30 pm.**

Finally, the Stockbridge Planning Commission will meet on Thursday, May 22, at 6:30 pm. They meet at Stockbridge City Hall.

The planning commission’s agenda items include the following:

  • special use permit request for a new convenience store and gas station on Rock Quarry Road at Hospital Drive,
  • annexation request at 2251 Highway 42 North to use the existing structure for a private school,
  • annexation and rezoning request at 1448 and 1468 Flippen Road for a new subdivision with townhomes and single-family detached homes, and
  • special use permit request for a new drive-thru coffee at 5600 North Henry Blvd.
